Hertz MLK 1650.3 2-way Kit 300W with woofer 1650.3 + pair of tweeter ML 280.3 + pair of MLCX 2 TW.3 bi-amplifiable crossover Mille Series

The Hertz MLK 1650.3 Legend car audio speaker system is a two-way kit dedicated to purists, which aims to achieve maximum tonal coherence combined with very high dynamics and extremely extended frequency response.

Through a solid switch, the MLCX 2 TW.3 crossover allows you to create a bi-amplified system, that is, to connect two amplifiers to the crossover, or in any case two separate channels, making it possible to drive the woofer and tweeter separately. The significant increase in power with this configuration highlights all the characteristics of the MLK 1650.3 Legend system, with all the advantages deriving from multi-amplification.

Furthermore, thanks to the Mid-Contour and Hi-Countor controls, dedicated respectively to managing the woofer and tweeter cut-off frequency, it is possible to vary the crossover point. Through each of these two "Countor" controls, equipped with a two-position selector, it is possible to precisely adjust the system's frequency response, adapting it to the different acoustics of vehicles and the different speaker placements and, above all, allow the listener to achieve their preferred sound.

The kit is composed of:

ML 1650.3 Legend

  • Optimized neodymium magnet with FEA simulations for real dynamics and extreme control.
  • Steel pole plates with very low carbon content and CNC machining to ensure very high magnetic permeability reducing distortion at high power levels.
  • Pole covered in aluminum to linearize impedance modulation and lower distortion.
  • 36 mm coil in dual-layer CCAW on Polyamide support for exceptional power handling and compression-free reproduction even in the most demanding musical passages.
  • V-cone® with optimized geometry with exponential progression for better dispersion in mid-range.
  • "Boundary Free Surround" suspension in IIR rubber for greater efficiency and extension of the mid-bass range.
  • Cone in cellulose and cotton fiber to combine rigidity and lightness in order to obtain extended response and limited break-up phenomena in the high range.
  • Basket in anti-resonant aluminum alloy with three spokes with high acoustic transparency with integrated decompression holes.
  • Elegant knurling of the basket edge with integrated logo worked with CNC.
  • Die-cast aluminum grille with knurled aluminum logo supplied as standard

ML 280.3 Legend

  • Optimized neodymium magnet with FEA simulations of magnetic flux for maximum control and transient response speed.
  • Pure copper short-circuit ring, for excellent extension in the highest frequency range.
  • Die-cast aluminum faceplate with optimized profile with FEA simulations to improve frequency response and dispersion.
  • Tetolon Fiber dome geometry optimized with FEA simulations for lower distortion and better high frequency dispersion.
  • Supporting structure and rear loading chamber both machined from a CNC-worked aluminum block, to ensure a response inert to resonances.
  • Rear chamber sized for an Fs of only 900Hz: the low Fs guarantees high extension in the low frequency and low distortion also in the crossover area, thus allowing to lower the cut-off frequency.
  • High-density damping material under the dome and low-density absorbent in the rear chamber, to provide fluidity in emission and high damping in the lower part of the response.

MLCX 2 TW.3

  • Bi-amplification capability, selectable through a dedicated switch with high current capacity.
  • "Mid-Countour" control with two positions to linearize the mid-bass frequency response based on woofer placement in the vehicle and the listener's preferred sound.
  • "Hi-Countour" control with two positions to linearize the high frequency response based on tweeter placement in the vehicle and the listener's preferred sound.
  • The "Mid-Contour" together with the "Hi-Contour" allows you to use the MLCX 2 TW.3 to build a two-way system based on ML 1650.3 or ML 1800.3 woofers together with the ML 280.3 tweeter.
  • Tweeter sensitivity control with three positions, with attenuation in 2 dB steps via selector, to fine-tune the transducer emission.
  • "Hi-Boost" control activatable via selector to provide more linear tweeter emission beyond 10 kHz, when positioned off-axis with listeners.
  • 160v bi-metallized polyester film capacitors of very high quality, with ultra-low DF value, for maximum sound transparency and detailed mid-high frequencies.
  • Inductors made with air-wound coils with pure copper wire 1 mm in diameter, for a high threshold of magnetic flux saturation and low losses in the woofer areas where high transitory currents are required.
  • High-power Wirewound resistors, to ensure maximum performance stability even at high operating temperatures. Wirewound construction allows for low parasitic series inductance to reduce loss at high frequencies, especially for resistors in series with the tweeter.
