Zapco Z8-R is an optional remote control available for those who will use the auxiliary inputs of the Zapco DSP-Z8. First, the Z8-R provides a switching system (MODE button) so the user can switch from the RCA analog input (AUX A) to the SPDIF digital input (Aux D). Three LED indicators allow the user to know which input is currently active.

A pair of up / down buttons allow you to control the overall volume in steps of 1/2 dB. Digital inputs are usually full of gain, so you need to be careful to avoid surprises and dangerous distractions from sudden volume changes. We strongly recommend that if you use the Aux-D input in your system, you need to set the head unit for maximum unclipped output (usually about 3/4 of the volume), and use the Z8-R as the main volume control. This way the switch from main input to Aux-D input will not cause serious volume variations. The Z8-R also provides memory switching. The DSP-Z8 allows you to set different tuning systems worldwide for different types of music or for different listening needs (Say to sit and listen to music or when background music without bass is needed for when children are in the car). With the Z8-R you can change which memory setting is active at any time, without the PC connected. Four LED indicators allow you to see at a glance which memory setting is active. The Z8-R has a USB connector on the front panel. If you have the Z8-R mounted in the dashboard or glove compartment, you can connect the PC to the tuning system right from the front seat. The Z8-R also has a "reset" button. This button will be used only if the system should need to be updated with future program changes.
