Sony XS-162ES 165mm two-way speaker system with high-resolution audio playback


The diaphragm of the main speaker of the XS-162ES system is made of Sony's exclusive mica-reinforced cellular material (MRC). The rigid yet lightweight driver allows for much more precise response compared to drivers made of conventional material and ensures a smoother and more natural sound. The integration of MRC in an exclusive matrix with aramid fibers eliminates diaphragm resonance and minimizes distortion, not only in the bass but also in the mid and high frequencies.

The result is powerful sound across all frequencies and incredibly clean, even at higher volumes. The woofer surround is equipped with another Sony proprietary technology, with curved notches that improve vertical amplitude symmetry to drastically reduce distortion and improve clarity.

XS-162ES Features

  • Phase plug: The phase plug for resonance damping on the XS-162ES woofer allows you to achieve ideal frequency response, up to the crossover point with synchronized tweeters. The rigid aluminum voice coil and Dynamic Air diffuser further support the speaker's wide frequency response, for controlled and dynamic bass.
  • Crossover with bi-amp functionality and gain selector: The sophisticated crossover of the Sony XS-162ES kit features a low-resistance film capacitor for maximum fluidity. The bi-amp functionality design reduces tweeter distortion when using the woofer with high input levels. The dedicated gain selector balances the woofer and tweeter signal levels and allows tweeter level adjustment even when managing the components from a single amplifier.
  • Tweeter for the highest notes: The soft dome tweeter diaphragm is directly connected to the voice coil, compatible with high-resolution audio, designed to cover the highest frequency sounds thanks to a frequency range that extends up to 40 kHz.
