ESX VXP84G High-end flat subwoofer 20 cm (8")

With the VISION VXP subwoofers, ESX presents a new series of high-end woofers for which much effort has already been made. The most important components, such as the aluminum basket, voice coil and membrane, have been completely redesigned to achieve without compromise the development objective: high-end subwoofers with reduced installation depth. Practically nothing is "off the shelf", so in addition to the cone, 12 other components were specially created. The effort put into the independent cast aluminum basket with integrated magnetic drive and the newly formed honeycomb membrane is particularly evident.

Richly equipped voice coils, with a diameter of 50 mm for the 8 inch model and 65 mm for the 10 inch model, allow the subwoofers to withstand extremely high loads of 300 or 400 watts RMS. These high values are also due to the use of a special 32 mm long CCAW voice coil, which rests on an extremely lightweight fiberglass support. Thanks to the reduced mass and powerful dual magnet, it was possible to achieve another 2 dB of efficiency gain.


Flat woofers have the disadvantage that, because of their design, conventional cone membranes do not fit because the installation depth is not sufficient. So flat membranes remain. However, these are very susceptible to twisting if they are made of only one layer. ESX solves this problem with the extremely stable structure of the VXP multi-layer cones, reinforced on both sides with fiberglass on the outside and equipped with a rigid honeycomb structure inside. Both woofers prefer small and sealed enclosures.
