The Type-R Subwoofers have been completely redesigned to offer more installation flexibility and greater application versatility for building your ideal audio system. At 115 mm of mounting depth for the 8" (20 cm) this new design offers even greater output capability.
More excursion = More power.

The new FEA-Optimized Motor Structure together with the revolutionary High-Amplitude Multi Roll (HAMR) suspension design provides the new Type-R subwoofers with the greatest excursion and SPL in the category. The 12mm X-Max measurement gives the new 8" (20cm) Type-R the power advantage in its category, ultra-low distortion and unmatched sound quality.


Motor with Greater Force = More Control

Starting from the new magnet structure segmented into ten pieces, the new Type-R subwoofers offer more powerful and precise bass with perfect movement control. The new magnet is an integral part of the new generation Alpine's Patented Radial Vented VC cooling system.
Keep it Cool = Keep it Playing

Alpine's Patented Radial Vented VC Heatsink and Airflow Management System (US Patent #7,634,101) helps minimize power compression and ensures reliability over time without loss of power, without overheating the coil. The new one-piece aluminum chassis uses the entire structure as a large heat sink, to ensure always perfect management and uncompromising power delivery, even in the most extreme applications.


FEA optimized = Maximum Linearity

Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve technology guarantees an ultra-symmetric magnetic field, optimizing flux density, to reduce distortion, improving power and output retention.
Even greater power

The oversized 38 mm voice coil allows for increased power handling of 350W RMS / 1000W Peak.

To achieve maximum performance, it is recommended to combine a PDX Digital amplifier with the new Type-R.

The large amplitude of the Multi Roll suspension allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone space. FEA optimized guarantees superb linearity and made with an injection mold in Santoprene®, this HAMR surround is a fundamental part of the suspension system, allowing extreme excursions with total control without distortion.

2. FEA optimized Spider with Reinforced Layers

Ensures reliable and consistent control to eliminate any possible mechanical noise or interference typical of many high excursion devices.

3. Vented VC Heat Sinks & Airflow Management

Actively manages coil temperatures by forcing air directly into the heat sink system.

4. FEA optimized Motor Structure

Allows you to create a symmetric magnetic field, optimizing flux density to significantly reduce distortion, further improving power and output retention.
