HAMR Technology

HAMR TechnologyThe HAMR technology is a collection of the latest and most sophisticated technologies that Alpine has used to ensure enormous power, tight bass, optimal temperature operation and stunning durability. Thanks to the use of highly advanced materials and patented design features (for some the patent has been applied for), these subwoofers boast exceptional power handling, superb sound quality and long service life.

High Amplitude Multi-Roll Suspension (patent applied for)

High Amplitude Multi-Roll SuspensionMost designs sacrifice cone area for wide suspension or sound quality for high suspension. Our High Amplitude Multi-Roll Suspension avoids this compromise by achieving superb linearity, giving you the best of both worlds: an enlarged cone area for greater SPL and greater linear excursion for optimal sound quality.

Kevlar® reinforced pulp cone

Kevlar® reinforced pulp coneThe Kevlar reinforced pulp cone provides an ultra-lightweight parabolic cone that maintains its shape even during vigorous movements. Because the cone is significantly more rigid with faster response, the result is accurate and extremely detailed sound reproduction and earthquake bass.

Encapsulated press terminals

Encapsulated press terminalsWith all wires properly positioned on one side, Type-R subwoofers can be installed quickly, easily and cleanly. Jumpers can be configured for series or parallel applications, and press terminals can support speaker cables with large gauge wire.

Latest Type-R design

Latest Type-R designCompletely redesigned and updated, these Type-R subwoofers have a power handling capacity 40% higher than last year's models and leverage key technologies and design features from the premium Type-X line to achieve maximum performance and high sound quality.

Thermal Management Technology

HAMR TechnologyCooling is a crucial factor in subwoofer design. Since the voice coil can be severely damaged by excessive overheating, Type-R subwoofers use sophisticated techniques to ensure that airflow is controlled effectively - drawing in fresh air while keeping it in contact with all heat-conductive parts to ensure optimal heat dissipation.

Thermal Management Technology

Airflow Cooling System with HAMR technology

The HAMR system has been meticulously designed and uses various techniques and technologies (for many of which patents have been applied for) to force air through hot components to achieve maximum cooling effectiveness. The diagram above shows how airflow management expels hot air and draws in cooler air.

Thermal Management with HAMR Technology

Along with their sophisticated cooling techniques, Type-R subwoofers use special materials to minimize heat, such as the voice coil wound on four-layer brass resistant to high temperatures and a high-strength BSP former. The diagram above shows where heat is transferred for optimal temperature operation.
