The 1224SS enclosure guarantees high efficiency and high output levels typical of a ported enclosure, without the annoying noise or "pops" generated by the port. The patented Slipstream tuning tube significantly reduces tube noise at high sound pressure levels, minimizing air flow turbulence. With an oversized surround, proprietary cone design and high excursion, the Series II enclosure delivers powerful and accurate bass, with accuracy far superior to conventional enclosures. And the exclusive SSI™ (Smart Selectable Impedance) switch allows you to choose 2 or 4 ohm impedance for maximum configuration flexibility.

Strengths of the JBL 1224SS

Slipstream™ port design
At high sound pressure levels, air flow turbulence inside a ported enclosure port can create noise that resembles a woofer breaking. The patented Slipstream tuning tube in the Series II subwoofer enclosure uses a dual-flare design to minimize turbulence and eliminate unwanted vortices.

SSI™(Selectable Smart Impedance)
Setting up most car audio systems requires 2 or 4 ohm impedance. The Series II subwoofer features an exclusive selector that allows you to choose between two impedance loads. Not available in any other competitor product, SSI allows you to reconfigure your system by simply flipping a switch.

Oversized surround
The Series II enclosure uses an oversized surround that provides better support to the cone edge while maximizing excursion. Not only do they increase the cone surface area, but they also provide excellent linear stability and reliability.

Proprietary cone design
JBL subwoofer cones are not only built to hit hard, but to last. The Series II enclosure is characterized by an exclusive cone design that provides superior rigidity for lasting performance.

High excursion design
The greater a subwoofer's excursion, the more air it moves. And the more air it moves, the more you'll feel the bass. The high excursion design in the Series II enclosure ensures high and deep bass.
