Alpine R-W12D2 subwoofer 30 cm (12") new R Series, with dual 2 Ohm voice coil

This subwoofer features a mica pulp cone with a parabolic shape that maintains its rigidity and strength for exceptional response and accuracy. The rubber surround supports the cone in the aluminum diecast frame, while Alpine's latest technology allows the R-W12D2 to move an incredible amount of air without overheating the voice coil thanks to the new ventilation circuit.

The new R Series has been built on the characteristics of the Type R that over the years has received numerous positive reviews. Thanks to the key design selected and improvements made to the construction, the new subwoofers are able to produce greater extension and control of even deeper bass.

R-W12D2 is equipped with a Kevlar cone for greater durability. The combination of this cone with the Santoprene surround allows the subwoofer to offer 19 mm of X-max, for incredible and punchy bass. A new method for connecting the spider and cone to the voice coil ensures not only rigidity throughout the engine structure, but helps increase the precision of the subwoofers.

Talc, a common mineral used in products such as baby powder and paint, has proven to have incredible damping properties while being less dense than the traditional Mica filler used in dust caps. By adding a calculated amount of talc to the mica polypropylene in the R-W12D2 dust cap, Alpine has increased the vibration absorption of the cap while reducing density. The resulting lighter dust cap contributes to faster attack and more accurate reproduction of low frequencies.
