Alpine R-W10D2 subwoofer 25 cm (10") new Series R, with dual 2 Ohm voice coil

This subwoofer features a mica pulp cone with a parabolic shape that maintains its rigidity and strength for exceptional response and accuracy. The rubber surround supports the cone in the aluminum die-cast frame, while Alpine's latest technology allows the X-W10D2 to move an incredible amount of air without overheating the voice coil thanks to the new ventilation circuit.

The new Series R was built on the characteristics of the Type R which has received numerous positive reviews over the years. Thanks to the key design selected and improvements made to the construction, the new subwoofers are able to produce greater extension and control of even deeper bass.

R-W10D2 is equipped with a Kevlar cone for increased durability. The combination of this cone with the Santoprene surround allows the subwoofer to offer 19 mm of X-max, for incredible and punchy bass. A new method for connecting the spider and cone to the voice coil ensures not only rigidity across the entire motor structure, but helps increase the precision of the subwoofers.

Talc, a common mineral used in products such as baby powder and paint, has been shown to have incredible damping properties while being less dense than the traditional mica filler used in dust caps. By adding a calculated amount of talc to the mica polypropylene in the dust cap of the R-W10D2, Alpine increased the vibration absorption of the cap while reducing density. The resulting lighter dust cap contributes to faster attack and more accurate reproduction of low frequencies.
