More and more often, the front doors not only fit woofers of 16.5 cm, but also much larger frames with a diameter of 20 cm. Since the simple rule "more membrane surface = more bass" also applies in this case, it is possible to get plenty of bass from the doors with the new 8-inch ESX woofers from the QUANTUM QXE series. They fit the common 20 cm adapters for many car models, such as VW, Audi or Tesla.

Since traditional 20 cm woofers with ferrite magnets are too heavy and too deep to be mounted on the doors, ESX designed a special 20 cm bass-midrange speaker with a neodymium unit that, with its 57 mm installation depth and its 542 grams of weight, is particularly suitable for door installation. In addition to the high-quality fiberglass membrane, it has another special feature in its construction: the neodymium magnet is not positioned on the back of the speaker basket as is customary, but is mounted on the front. This saves installation depth and optimizes the center of gravity.

The silk dome tweeters, already known from the QXE6.2CV2, are also used in the new 20 cm set. A look at the measured values reveals the potential of this extremely valid 25 mm tweeter: It shows a frequency response as if drawn with a ruler and sounds with ease well over 24,000 Hz. Smart: the grille can be inserted through the housing together Unscrew the metric thread and, if necessary (for example when installing in a mirror triangle), significantly reduces the space required. The delivery includes an ABS housing for surface mounting. For the separation, a 12 dB inline crossover optimized for this system is used.
