ESX QSC7 Self-adhesive acoustic foam

With the self-adhesive acoustic foams QSC7 (flat) and QSC15 (ribbed), ESX offers additional options to significantly improve the interior acoustics of vehicles. The acoustic foams are recommended in addition to the use of aluminum butyl. While the aluminum butyl mats primarily ensure that vibrations or resonances of sheet metal parts in the doors or trunk are attenuated thanks to their high mass, the acoustic foams in cavities or smooth surfaces ensure another optimization of the acoustics in the interior thanks to their sound absorption property. The confined space of the vehicle or the smooth surfaces, in particular, cause many reflections or background noises that have a disruptive effect on the sound.

The QSC7 with flat structure with a thickness of 7 mm can be compressed to one millimeter. This means that the acoustic foam can also be glued onto the internal door panels. If the lining is reinstalled, the foam keeps the door slightly in tension, thus ensuring greater tranquility. The QSC15 foam, with a thickness of 15 mm, is often used in cases where it is necessary to acoustically dampen exposed sheet metal or problematic parts of the vehicle, for example in the trunk. Aluminum butyl in combination with acoustic foam is particularly useful when large subwoofers cause vehicle parts to vibrate. ESX QSC acoustic foams are equipped with a self-adhesive layer on the back, which is why they are often also used to secure loose cables or construction blocks, often found in doors.
