Focal PC 130F Performance / Expert Series pair of 2-way 130 mm coaxial speakers with exclusive Flax cone. Grilles included in the package.

The PC 130F coaxial pair is an excellent choice as Hi-Fi car coaxial speakers thanks to the exclusive Flax linen cone made in Focal (also present in models: PS 165F, PS 165FX, PS 165F3 or PS 130F). They can be used in combination with front speakers having the same linen cone to obtain a perfectly balanced sound, or they can be installed as a replacement for other coaxial kits. The PC 130F coaxials are supplied with dedicated protective grilles.

Flax cone characteristics

Linen cones produce a natural, very dynamic sound without distortion. Composed of a layer of linen sandwiched between two layers of fiberglass, it combines lightness, rigidity and damping for optimal acoustics.

The tweeter renowned for its fluid and precise sound, mounted on a reinforced lower frame, benefits from the inverted aluminum and magnesium dome, and the Poron suspension.

To make installation easier and to optimize the sound response, the basket has an integrated passive crossover. The shape of this aluminum basket has been optimized to improve the cooling of the voice coil, which makes the difference during listening sessions.

FLAX (Linen)

FLAX, given its characteristics, became very early a valid candidate and at the end of tests, analyses and comparisons it proved to be the ideal material for the core of a sandwich membrane at a "popular" cost. Essentially we found the solution around our home, as France is the world's largest producer of linen considered among other things to be of the best quality. But there are other reasons that made us prefer it.

The unique qualities of FLAX
Composite materials have properties suitable for applications where rigidity and low specific weight are required. However, they have a serious defect which is the lack of damping that leads to poor vibration control.
For this reason it is often necessary to add damping material to absorb the intrinsic vibrations of the material. FLAX is twice as light as fiberglass, as the fiber has cavities. It also has very low elasticity which is ideal for increasing the rigidity of the sandwich. Furthermore, it can be obtained in "non-woven" bundles of considerable diameters and therefore produce the thickness required by the sandwich.


Flax then combines the 3 key factors required by the core of the sandwich material of speakers:
