DYN10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack Pack of 9 sheets 81.2 x 45.7 cm (total area of 3.34 m²)

Dynamat Xtreme Bulk Pack is a vibration damping material designed to reduce resonances and noise generated by rigid surfaces. Application on sheet metal and panels allows direct intervention on structural vibrations, improving acoustic comfort in automotive applications and in all applications where it is necessary to control resonance phenomena. The material consists of an elastomeric butyl layer coupled with an aluminum foil, and is designed to maintain stable performance even in the presence of thermal variations typical of automotive use.

How a vibration damping material works and what it is for

Vibrations generated by engine, road or acoustic sources propagate through rigid surfaces transforming into perceived noise. This phenomenon is particularly evident in thin sheet metal, which easily enters resonance.
Dynamat Xtreme acts as a vibration damping agent:

  • absorbs and dissipates mechanical energy
  • reduces resonances of metal surfaces
  • limits the transmission of structural noise

The operating principle is related to the acoustic loss factor (η), which measures the ability of a material to transform vibrational energy into heat instead of noise.

For example: a 1 mm steel sheet metal has a loss factor of about 0.001 at 200 Hz with Dynamat Xtreme applied, the value can reach up to 0.417 at +20°C. This increase indicates a significant reduction in vibrations and resonances.

When to use it, where to apply it and how to install it

Dynamat Xtreme is suitable for all situations where noise is generated by structural vibrations.
Typical automotive applications:

  • doors (exterior and interior side)
  • floor
  • wheel arch
  • trunk

Other applications:

  • metal and composite panels
  • ventilation ducts
  • containers and dividers
  • appliances and metal structures
  • computer cases and mechanical components

The pack of 9 sheets allows approximately the complete treatment of 4 doors or 2 doors and the trunk.

Installation

The material must be cut and shaped before installation. It can be worked with scissors, cutter or utility knife. Procedure:

  1. clean the surface removing dust, grease and moisture
  2. cut the sheet in the desired shape
  3. remove the protective film
  4. apply following the surface and any ribs
  5. press with a roller to avoid air bubbles

For correct application:

  • the temperature should preferably be above 15°C
  • heating the material improves its malleability and adhesion

Dynamat Xtreme is a damping material designed for vibration and resonance control on rigid surfaces. Its use makes it possible to improve acoustic comfort and, in car audio applications, to achieve a more controlled and precise response, reducing mechanical interference from structures. It is not a pure acoustic insulator, but a targeted intervention on the main cause of structural noise: vibration.
