JL AUDIO C1-690TX 3-way coaxial speaker system: 6 x 9 inch (150 x 230 mm) woofer, 1.0 inch (25 mm) aluminum dome tweeter, 0.75 inch (19 mm) aluminum dome super tweeter

The C1 speakers offer true substance and excellent audio performance in a format designed to be easily installed behind factory grilles.

To facilitate fitment, spacer adapter rings are included that allow C1-690tx installation in bottom-mount applications.

The C1 woofer drivers benefit from JL Audio's proprietary FEA modeling and experience in designing low-frequency drivers. This knowledge is used to create speakers capable of reproducing at high volume, while maintaining smooth, dynamic sound with low distortion. At the heart of the C1-690tx is a proprietary, stamped 6 x 9 inch (150 x 230 mm) oval steel frame and an optimized DMA motor system. A mineral-filled injection-molded polypropylene cone is suspended with a rubber surround on the front and a carefully designed flat Conex® spider at the top of the voice coil, to precisely control movement and prevent impact between the voice coil and the flat back. Tinsel leads are carefully routed and secured to the spider to avoid fatigue and buzzing. These are the same types of features and materials normally found on much more expensive speakers.

Equipped with dual aluminum dome tweeters with side guide, the C1-690tx stands out from others in its category for clarity and separation of higher frequencies. The design of each tweeter offers inherently excellent off-axis response and high-frequency extension. Both high-frequency drivers also benefit from silk surround suspension damping and Ferrofluids in the voice coil gaps, together with superior neodymium magnet strength. A true mixed-order filter network is employed to further enhance smoothness and improve power handling.
