DD Audio Digital Designs 815f-D2 15" Power Tuned Subwoofer

The 800 Series has always been engineered for the most demanding enthusiasts who want to take their systems to the next level; the "f" revision reaches a new level, delivering more powerful sound and greater durability. We've enhanced the entire system, maximizing the flux density of the imposing 25 mm thick top plate, increasing heat dissipation, excursion, durability, and overall power.

The most significant upgrade in the "f" revision is the dual-stage aluminum heat sink. Previously, the two main cooling methods consisted of the aluminum basket, capable of transferring heat absorbed by the system, and the free-flow cooling system, which uses air vents to expel hot air from the system. The "dual-stage" advantage of this new feature consists of an aluminum insert connected to a heat sink mounted on the rear plate, designed to draw heat away from the upper stage of the motor, channeling it toward the external fins where it can radiate through the channeled air.

This brand new version also features a 25 mm thick top plate with longer voice coil windings, increasing Xmax to 31 mm, to always maintain a greater amount of voice coil wire within the gap. A greater amount of voice coil wire, surrounded by both motor steel and billet aluminum, helps dissipate more heat from the coil, optimizing thermal efficiency in long-term use.

The increase in Xmax and excursion required improvements to the mobile system, such as higher surrounds, stitched with double stitching on non-pressed cones reinforced with fiberglass, and perfected spiders to fully optimize the new motor design. The multiple dual-layer spiders with integrated multi-tinsel conductors perpetuate DD's tradition of long-term durability.
