Series 3000 - Speaker Systems

Treated paper cones. It is widely recognized that paper cones are the best combination of lightness, rigidity and the cone's ability to dampen any unwanted vibration (read: distortion). The paper cone, widely known for its excellent sound characteristics, is waterproof, thanks to a polymer developed exclusively by ESB. The treatment does not modify the appearance and parameters of the speaker such as glossy polymers that add an appreciable amount of mass to the cone and notably alter the sound result. The treatment protects the cone from water dripping (such as inside a door panel), as well as from accidental splashing on the front of the cone.

The ABS baskets, reinforced with fiberglass, have been designed to achieve maximum in terms of torsional rigidity (flexing), but at the same time offer minimal resistance to the passage of air displaced by the cone toward the back. This is clearly visible from a rear view of the speaker. The basket plays a fundamental role in aligning the coil in the magnetic circuit, its rigidity is essential. A secondary factor is the damping of this component, often metal baskets tend to resonate and this significantly alters the final sound result of the speaker. The material used, in addition to not being as sensitive to temperature fluctuations, is non-flammable and also non-resonant. Furthermore, the ABS frame allows better clamping force compared to typical stamped steel frames and ensures that the voice coil remains well centered within the magnetic field.

Totally new, the 3.UMA. This special component is a concept born in the 70s, its purpose is to concentrate the emissions of the midrange and tweeter in a single virtual point. This minimizes phase delays and irregularities at the crossover point. The speaker is made up of a 1"/25 mm tweeter and a 3.65 midrange, with different dust cap to have a midrange function (not widerange) and not interfere with the tweeter frequencies.
