STEG NIKO 1.7000 SPL dual-mono amplifier for subwoofer, Class D, power 1x7000 Watt

NIKO 1.7000 integrates various protection systems to control the following functions:

Output short circuit

Direct current across the speakers

Temperature rise

Muting in the power-on transient

Power supply voltage out of range

Intelligent fan control "INTELLISPEED"

Power supply input imbalance between the two connectors

The numerous "sensors" present on the circuit send a continuous stream of data that is processed at very high speed, the protection system reacts instantaneously, intervening appropriately and signaling any malfunctions through the LEDs placed on the control panel. The other protection system is managed by the modulator which monitors the switching circuit on the output stage.

A characteristic of the STEG D Class amplifier line is the very low distortion they manage to maintain even at very low impedances. Thanks to the LOW TOLERANCE OF PASSIVE COMPONENTS AND CAREFUL LAYOUT DESIGN, which reduce power losses to a minimum and make performance excellent. The components used are of selected type and particular value, low tolerance resistors and capacitors are employed, coupling capacitance in polyester with high linearity and low thermal drift and made specifically for audio applications. The choice of each individual device has been studied down to the smallest details, each element finds its best placement in the delicate electrical balances of the system in order to ensure exceptional performance, invariable over time.

NIKO 1.7000, designed for the most difficult SPL challenges where power supply conditions and load impedance are truly extreme. Regulated power supply down to 10 volts, with as many as 24 160A mosfets each capable of handling currents up to 4000A on input and capable of working with loads down to 0.5 ohm on output. The two power supply sections are completely separate to prevent interference between the two power branches and to reduce significant power losses and the risk of breakdowns. Particular attention was paid to the protection circuits, for temperature, output short circuit, low power supply, imbalance of one power branch due to a different input voltage.

G.R.I.P.S. - Ground Improved Path System

In order to avoid the generation of ground loops in the connection between the car radio and the power amplifier, in the past numerous expedients and systems have been adopted, including the separation of the amplifier ground from that of the vehicle battery. This system proved to be particularly effective and reliable so much so that the major car Hi-Fi manufacturers adopted it in their designs and used it up to the present day. In recent years, with the advent of electronic fuel injections such system begins to prove insufficient because it has greater effectiveness on disturbances of electrical origin but is less efficient against those of electromagnetic nature. Steg has designed the G.R.I.P.S. system capable of reducing both types of disturbance, alternative to balanced lines, and with the advantage of not degrading sound quality, maintaining compatibility with existing connections. The G.R.I.P.S. circuitry isolates each input ground from the others, preventing the generation of loops even in multi-amplified, multichannel implementations and also reduces installation time ensuring always the maximum sound quality

INTELLISPEED

Intelligent cooling fans power regulatorThe efficiency of the D'' Class cooling system is among the highest on the market. The extraordinary dissipation characteristics are the result of innovative design choices, including the dynamic forced ventilation system Intellispeed controlled by the microprocessor. The high heat dissipating power of the finned profile combines with the effectiveness of the 6 fans integrated in the lateral tunnels, positioned to convey cold air to the most appropriate points. The integrated sensors continuously monitor the thermal/electrical conditions of the transistors and diodes, communicating with the microprocessor in real time. The control system, interpreting the readings, reacts with intelligent fan management, activating them when the dissipator temperature exceeds 40°C. With ventilation activated, the software controls its flow, varying the speed of the fan rotation based on the acquired parameters to always guarantee the best working conditions of the D'' Class.
