STEG NIKO 1.40000 top of the line mono SPL amplifier, with extraordinary power of 40,000 Watt.

NIKO 1.40000, designed for the most difficult SPL challenges where power supply conditions, load impedance are truly extreme. Dual power input connector. Clock frequency 50KHz stabilized PWM (from 10.5V). Use of 10 E-ferrite transformers for maximum efficiency. 40 switching MOSFETs 160Ampere, 0.010 Ohm for a total of 6,400 Ampere. All managed by the microprocessor which in addition to switching the mosfets takes care of protection management by continuously monitoring:
1) low input voltage
2) high input voltage
3) short circuit in the final stage
4) abnormal power consumption in the final stage.

First in the world to use this switching power supply management system designed within our STEG research and development laboratories, this ensures that amplifier failure is reduced to zero even under extreme operating conditions. Series of high quality leveling capacitors for a total of 35200uF. Copper reinforcement bars, power connectors obtained from solid brass blocks and printed circuit board with 120um copper for very low power losses on high current paths.

A characteristic of the STEG D Class amplifier line is the very low distortion they manage to maintain even at very low loads. Thanks to the LOW TOLERANCE OF PASSIVE COMPONENTS AND CAREFUL LAYOUT DESIGN, which reduce power losses to a minimum and deliver excellent performance. The components used are of selected type and particular value, low tolerance resistors and capacitors are employed, polyester coupling capacitance with high linearity and low thermal drift made specifically for audio applications. The choice of each individual device has been studied in the finest details, each element finds its best position in the delicate electrical balances of the system in order to ensure exceptional performance, invariable over time.

The NIKO 1.40000 integrates various protection systems for monitoring the following functions:

Output short circuit

Direct current across speakers

Temperature rise

Muting during power-on transient

Power supply voltage out of range

Intelligent fan control "INTELLISPEED"

Unbalance of power supply voltage between the two connectors

The numerous "sensors" present on the circuit send a continuous data stream that is processed at very high speed, the protection system reacts instantaneously, intervening appropriately and signaling any malfunctions through the LEDs placed on the control panel. The other protection system is managed by the modulator which monitors the switching circuit on the final stage.

GR.I.P.S. - Ground Improved Path System
In order to avoid the generation of ground loops in the connection between the car stereo and the power amplifier, in the past numerous expedients and systems have been adopted including the separation of the amplifier ground from the vehicle battery ground. This system proved to be particularly effective and reliable so much so that the major Hi-Fi car manufacturers adopted it in their products and have used it to the present day. In recent years, with the advent of electronic fuel injections, this system has begun to prove insufficient because it has greater effectiveness against disturbances of electrical origin but is less efficient against those of electromagnetic nature. Steg has designed the GR.I.P.S. system capable of eliminating both types of disturbance, an alternative to balanced lines, and with the advantage of not degrading sound quality, maintaining compatibility with existing connections. The GR.I.P.S. circuitry isolates each input ground from the others, preventing the generation of loops even in multi-amplified, multichannel installations and also reduces installation time while always ensuring maximum sound quality

INTELLISPEED - Intelligent cooling fans power regulator

The cooling system efficiency of the D Class is among the highest on the market. The extraordinary dissipation characteristics are the result of innovative design choices, including the Intellispeed dynamic forced ventilation system controlled by the microprocessor. The high dissipating power of the finned profile combines with the effectiveness of the 6 fans integrated in the lateral tunnels, positioned to convey cold air to the most appropriate points. The integrated sensors continuously monitor the thermal/electrical conditions of the transistors and diodes, communicating with the microprocessor in real time. The control system, interpreting the measurements, reacts with intelligent fan management, activating them when the heatsink temperature exceeds 40°C. With ventilation activated, the software controls its flow, varying the fan rotation speed based on the parameters acquired to always ensure the best operating conditions of the D Class.
