JL Audio MAX-KIT sound calibration system for Hi-Fi car audio systems

MAX™ is a professional tuning system with five microphones. It is ideal for large audio systems, for tuning systems with DSP, for troubleshooting and testing equipment and for resolving OEM integration issues. MAX™ finds many applications in home audio, car audio, marine audio and professional audio.

Thanks to full integration of VXi and MVi DSP controls, MAX™ simplifies measurement setup, allowing you to perform measurements and DSP adjustments with a single computer and a single software application: TüN® 4.0, which offers micro-automations that speed up equalization and channel delay setting.

What can you do with MAX?

  • Test, troubleshoot and analyze any audio system with all the details on the three dimensions of audio: level, frequency and time... all in real time!
  • Simplify the tuning of car audio DSP products in real-world environments. Just connect the hardware, position the microphone array, start the TüN® software and go!
  • Quickly test room modes for subwoofer placement for home audio and home theater and precisely adjust crossover and phase controls for seamless subwoofer transition.
  • Evaluate the frequency response and level of single or multiple audio zones in a marine installation.
  • Get the best possible measurements with 5-microphone averaging! MAX™ multiplies up to five included microphones to perform single FFT measurements of level and frequency response (RTA and spectrograph).
  • Perform Dual FFT measurements of up to five simultaneous transfer functions with precise displays of magnitude (frequency response), phase, impulse response (delay) and coherence (noise immunity).
  • Each transfer function captures all audio data for real-time or comparative analysis.
  • Built-in test signal generator (pink and white noise, sine waves, square waves, etc.) and WAV file playback capability.

  • The measurement accuracy of MAX™ is equal to that of professional test equipment sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
  • Wide range of inputs (up to five microphones, high-level analog signals up to 80V, low-level analog signals up to 7V, S/PDIF digital optical signals).
  • Multiple signal outputs (integrated DAC powering line-level analog outputs and headphone outputs, plus a digital optical output).
  • An integrated USB hub simplifies connection to the computer and DSP amplifiers or other USB devices (not intended for device charging).

What does the kit contain?

  • The MAX-KIT includes the MAX™ hardware interface, five measurement microphones, a multi-microphone device, mounting accessories, cables and power supplies, all enclosed in a rigid waterproof lockable case.
  • An optional specialized probe kit for speaker impedance and high voltage measurements is available separately: "MAX-PROBE KIT" (90922).
