Hertz HCP 5D 5-Channel Amplifier with Bass Boost Filter and Subsonic

HCP 5D is a complete front+rear+sub amplifier with five powerful class D channels. Equipped with a variety of inputs to allow complete configuration with any head unit. HCP 5D is suitable for working in five-channel mode, with the subwoofer, and three-channel mode, with a front+sub system, using the front and rear filters, with which it is equipped. To complete the filter section, HCP 5D also has a Bass Boost filter and a Subsonic filter. All amplifiers in the Hertz Compact Power line are assembled with high-quality components and equipped with a complete and defeatable crossover system. The heat dissipation system is optimized by transferring all heat to the heatsink and from there to the lateral surfaces that dissipate it.
HCP 5D allows you to control the subwoofer volume with extreme precision remotely, using the HRC (Hertz Remote Control) accessory.

HCP: THE TECHNOLOGY
The HCP heatsink is made of extruded aluminum, an unbeatable material for lightness, strength and heat dissipation capacity.

To reduce size, the power transistors are arranged between the PCB and the top part of the chassis that collects the heat, from there it is transferred to the lateral surfaces, equipped with fins, to be dissipated. The Front End section, equipped with a complete and defeatable crossover system to allow connection with processors, preamplified outputs with crossover on HCP 1D and multiple adjustments, offers the user infinite possibilities for system connections, for any configuration and with any source.
The inputs, a point of pride for Hertz R&D, are available both on RCA connections for preamplified connection (Pre-In) with aftermarket head units, and on high-level connections (Speaker-In) for connection with the source integrated in series in the car. The Pre-In and Speaker-In inputs are equipped with special balanced circuitry that guarantees high rejection of electromagnetic interference typical of the automotive environment, ensuring acoustic results free from disturbances. The Speaker-In inputs are also equipped with the ART function, Automatic Remote Turn-On/Off, which turns the amplifier on and off depending on the operation of the source, eliminating the need for a remote turn-on signal, generally missing on factory audio systems.
The ART circuit, long developed by Hertz staff, guarantees turn-on without delays and avoids annoying noise when turning off, moreover the function is manually deactivatable through a switch on the control panel: in those cases where the factory source has long turn-off delays or the amplifier restart is controlled by accessory activities such as opening the doors, you can disable the ART function and use the remote input through a manual command, avoiding excessive battery drain. The crossover section of Hertz Compact Power amplifiers allows extreme flexibility in realizing any audio system configuration: Bass Boost to enhance low frequencies; Lo-pass, Hi-Pass, Subsonic, Phase and Full Range to create complex audio systems; adjustable with slopes of 12 dB/Oct. and 24 dB/Oct. according to the model. In particular, the mono amplifier HCP 1D is equipped with Hi-Pass preamplified outputs that allow you to create a Band-Pass on the front woofer. While the four-channel model HCP 4D has an extended range of filter frequencies, to be used also in active 2-way multicanal front systems.
On board the HCP electronics, a power supply stage with a multi-strand transformer and Low-ESR 105°C capacitors, works at high efficiency ensuring the energy needed for the class D output stage (in HCP 1D, HCP 4D and HCP 5D) and in class AB (in HCP 2 and HCP 4), to make them stable at 2 Ω load and ensure maximum power delivery. With both the HCP 1D and HCP 5D it is possible to control the subwoofer remotely via the HRC, Hertz Remote Control accessory, connected to the specific Remote Control jack; this allows you to adjust the volume level with extreme precision while comfortably seated inside the car. The HRC knob has a center detent (Center Detent) where the subwoofer level is optimally calibrated. From this position the level can be increased by 6 dB or reduced to zero it, it is always possible to find the optimal volume by repositioning the knob to the Center Detent.
HCP 5D Features
  • Compact design, made with an extruded aluminum heatsink, whose upper side effectively transfers heat generated by high-power electronic components.
  • Special balanced input circuitry for high rejection of electromagnetic interference, in the Pre-In or Speaker-In inputs.
  • Speaker-In inputs (for factory head units) and RCA-In inputs (for Aftermarket head units).
  • ART, Automatic Remote Turn-On/Off, automatically turns the amplifier on and off when the factory head unit turns on and off (activatable/deactivatable, Speaker-In only).
  • Power supply with multi-strand transformer, Low-ESR 105°C capacitors, D-Class output stage stable at 2 Ω.
  • Operating mode (selectable) with 5 channels and 3 channels, to create a five-channel system (with subwoofer) or a powerful three-channel sub + front system.
  • Versatile front and rear filters allow you to create a Hi-Pass front +rear system or a multichannel woofer + tweeter system, both with subwoofer.
  • Bass Boost (50 Hz) adjustable to 12 dB, for deeper bass.
  • Full range front + rear power outputs selectable.
  • Subwoofer Lo-Pass filter at 24 dB continuously adjustable from 50 to 500 Hz.
  • SUBSONIC filter (24 dB - 25 Hz) useful for removing very low subsonic frequencies from the musical signal, to prevent damage to the subwoofer
  • Optional remote volume control (HRC), to adjust the subwoofer volume level directly from the passenger compartment.
