Helix DSP MINI strengths

Sampling frequency of 96 kHz

HELIX DSP MINI allows you to manage all signals with a double sampling frequency of 96 kHz. Therefore the audio bandwidth is no longer limited to the usual values like 22 kHz but allows an extended frequency response to over 40 kHz. Doubling the sampling frequency requires significantly more DSP power since the number of possible arithmetic operations is halved.
Only the implementation of the latest generation of DSP chips allows to increase the sampling frequency to 96 kHz and add new features at the same time.

Intelligent high level input ADEP.3

Modern factory-installed car radios incorporate sophisticated speaker diagnostic capabilities. In particular the latest generation car radios are equipped with additional monitoring functions so that error messages and loss of specific functions (e.g. fader function) appear quite often if a signal processor is connected, but not with the DSP MINI.
The new ADEP.3 circuit (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection, 3rd generation) avoids all these problems without unnecessarily loading the OE radio speaker outputs at high volumes.

ACO - 32 bit Advanced Processor

HELIX DSP MINI incorporates a powerful latest generation 32 bit CoProcessor for all monitoring and communication tasks, both internally and externally. Unlike the previous 8Bit generation, this MCU achieves much higher speeds than switching settings and communicating data with our DSP PC-Tool software. A further significant advantage is the integrated native boot loader of the CoProcessor. It allows software updates of all DSP components in order to adjust the ADEP.3 circuit controlled by microcontroller, for example in case of future changes / modifications in the diagnostic system of factory radios or if the device will be extended with additional interfaces. Furthermore, thanks to the new flash memory, the ACO offers 10 memory positions for audio configurations instead of the common two.

Start-Stop Functionality

The switching power supply of HELIX DSP MINI ensures constant internal supply voltage even if the battery voltage drops to 6 Volt during engine start.

Power Saving Mode

Power saving mode is built into the basic configuration. It allows to significantly reduce the power consumption of amplifiers connected to HELIX DSP MINI when there is no input signal for more than 60 seconds. Please note that in many cars updated with "CAN" or any other internal bus structure it can happen that the radio remains "invisibly" on for up to 45 minutes. even after closing and leaving the car! Once the "Power Saving Mode" is activated, the remote output and therefore the connected amplifiers will be turned off. HELIX DSP MINI will reactivate the remote output within one second if a music signal is applied. It is possible to modify the 60 sec. shutdown time or completely disable the "Power Saving Mode" via the DSP PC-Tool software.

Automatic digital signal detection

The switch from analog input to digital input is performed automatically as soon as a signal is detected on the optical input. This function can be disabled in the DSP PC-Tool software. Alternatively, an optional remote control can be used for manual switching between analog and digital inputs.
