Helix DSP.3S High-resolution 8-channel digital signal processor with integrated DSP


The HELIX DSP.3S is the new definition of the digital signal processor standard. This 8-channel DSP features numerous improvements in detail. In addition to the mandatory optical digital input, an additional coaxial digital input now offers the best conditions for connecting high-resolution signal sources with a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz. The 64-bit audio DSP of the latest Sigma350 generation and native high-resolution signal processing with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz, as well as BurrBrown A/D and D/A signal converters, guarantee exceptional sound quality. The DSP.3S is therefore perfectly prepared for processing high-resolution audio signals with a bandwidth of over 40 kHz. The DSP.3 is equipped with the 32-bit ACO platform that handles all control operations at ultra-fast speed and switching between up to ten possible sound configurations. But ACO offers much more: fantastic sound effects such as Augmented Bass Processing or StageXpander have been implemented, as well as a separate input EQ for each channel that includes the Input Signal Analyzer (ISA) for easy analysis and compensation of input signals from OE radios, which already include a default sound setting.


The sophisticated functions of the DSP.3S offer everything necessary for easy connection to factory radios or factory multi-channel audio systems. In addition to the intelligent high-level input with ADEP.3 circuit, the basic equipment also includes an optical digital input and now also coaxial, an Auto Remote switch and an HEC slot for system expansions such as HD Bluetooth® audio streaming etc. During the revision process of the DSP.3S the new Smart Control Port (SCP) was implemented. This allows multifunctional connection of accessory products and now also takes care of their full power supply. The solid design with snap-in function ensures a stable connection and helps prevent damage to plugs and cables, thus facilitating compact and space-saving installation concepts. Typical HELIX design, clean and very compact: the DSP.3S thus offers ideal conditions for quick and easy integration. The HELIX DSP.3S is easily configurable via the professional DSP PC-Tool software, which is at the same time very easy to use.

The "RealCenter" function is an algorithm, developed by Audiotec Fischer, that emphasizes musical information present in the right and left front channel to create a single central signal. Unlike common procedures, where only channels are summed, the intensity of the central signal is dynamically controlled by the stereophonic information content of the right and left channels. Audiotec Fischer's "RealCenter" allows you to achieve unique and expanded sound staging for both the driver and co-pilot at the same time.


The proprietary Audiotec Fischer system "Augmented Bass Processing", composed of the two revolutionary sound functions "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" and "SubXpander", was developed specifically to drastically improve subwoofer bass reproduction.
"Dynamic Bass Enhancement" cleverly combines maximum bass depth and highest sound pressure, regardless of music style or head unit tone controls. Depending on the input signal, "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" increases the lower frequency range and varies the subsonic filter cutoff frequency. The result is significantly more powerful and deeper bass response at low and medium volume levels, without the risk of overloading the subwoofer either mechanically or electrically at high volume levels.
If you want even lower and "darker" bass reproduction, you can further activate "SubXpander" to add subharmonic tones in the frequency range between 50 and 100 Hz.
