A common problem with larger car audio systems is the simultaneous turn-on of multiple amplifiers. This can lead to a drop in onboard voltage, as all amplifiers draw current at the same time. You often hear an unsightly "PLOPP" noise from the speakers or subwoofer. This can also happen with a single amplifier if the timing between the radio and an amplifier (or various components such as an external amplifier with DSP) does not match. To avoid such problems, in the past commercially available timed relays were installed due to lack of alternatives, a complex and also expensive solution.

This is where the ESX DRDS14 comes in. In a compact housing of only 7 x 5 cm, it offers a common remote input along with a blue LCD display, but four remote outputs that can be individually delayed via side switches. For example, you can control the turn-on time of a maximum of four amplifiers (or DSP) or even multiple DRDS14 can be connected in parallel or in series. With the right timing, this reliably avoids the annoying "power-on pop". The DRDS14 won't let you down when you turn it off either, but also ensures delayed shut-down of the amplifiers, so everything runs smoothly and without interference.

Digital voltage display / delay adjustment in seconds

Another advantage is the integrated digital voltage display, which can also be used to set the delay of the individual outputs in seconds. If the onboard voltage is displayed in volts in idle mode, it can also be calibrated to sync with other nearby displays, if necessary.

Undervoltage and overvoltage protection

As an additional feature, the DRDS14 has built-in undervoltage and overvoltage protection. Using adjustable voltage limits (operating range of the connected components), the device deactivates the outputs if the previously defined values (at the remote input) are undercut or exceeded. The digital display is also used to set these "Hi/Lo" values

Installation is simple: the device can be quickly and securely fixed to the removable feet with just two screws. In the attachment you will find detailed instructions on how to configure everything. All in all, the DRDS14 is a well-engineered and innovative product, an absolute "must-have"!
